BOMBERS NOTES
*Dayton In Third Place At The Break! The Bombers enter the All Star Break in 3rd place in the North Division, one point behind the Trenton Titans for 2nd place and seven points behind the Cincinnati Cyclones for 1st place. The Bombers still have five games in hand over the Cyclones and one game in hand over the Titans. The Bombers finish the first half of the season with an overall record of 17-10-4 (38 points), going 8-4-2 on home ice and 9-6-2 on the road. Their best month of the first half was December, were they went 9-2-1 in 12 games.
*Berkhoel Heading To The All Star Game! Adam Berkhoel will not only represent the Bombers at the All Star Game, but he will be the starting goaltender for the American Conference squad. Berkhoel is having an MVP type of season. He leads the ECHL in GAA at 2.08. He is tied for 2nd in wins with 16 and shutouts with three. His save percentage is 10th at .916 and he is tied with Idaho's Steve Silverthorn in most shootouts played in with five. Berkhoel has stopped 17/21 shots in the shootout. Overall for the Bombers, Berkhoel has played in 26 games, posting a record of 16-7-3, GAA of 2.08, a .916 SV% and has already tied the club record with three shutouts.
*Extra Time Needed Last Weekend! The Bombers were forced into a shootout on Friday by the Johnstown Chiefs. Although the Chiefs won the shootout, the Bombers out shot them 44-24 and earned a point in the loss. On Sunday, the Bombers came from behind to force overtime in Trenton against the Titans. Yannick Tifu scored the game winning goal: 30 into OT and the Bombers came away with two very important points. The victory also ended a four game winless streak for the Bombers.
* Bombs Away! The Bombers tied their season high for most shots in a single period with 22 in the 2nd period against Trenton on Saturday; this is the second time in the last three games against the Titans that the Bombers have been able to do that and the third time they have reached that mark on the season. They have totaled 122 shots on goal in their last three games alone and have out shot their opponents in all but four games this season.
LOOK OUT BELOW
* Looking Ahead To The Second Half! The Bombers still have a number of games in hand against all of their remaining opponents in the division. They will begin to make up those games by playing seven games in the remainder of January, 13 games in February and 15 games in the month of March. The Bombers will play their first non divisional opponents since December 1st against the Gwinnett Gladiators when they take on the Augusta Lynx on January 30th at home, before traveling down South to play the Columbia Inferno and South Carolina Stingrays on February 9th and 10th.
IMPORTANT WEEK AHEAD! Dayton returns to the ice Friday night, as they travel to Cambria County War Memorial Arena, for the first time this season to take on the Johnstown Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, the Bombers will complete their four game road trip at the Sports Arena in Toledo, as they take on the Strom at 7:35 p.m. The Toledo game will also mark the first of 10 games that will broadcast on AM 980 WONE radio in Dayton.
