The Week That Was:

The Stingrays traveled to Florida last week to face the Everblades in back-to-back games. They finished the week 1-0-1 to earn three of the possible four points over the weekend.

On Friday night, behind stellar goal-tending in both nets, the Stingrays were ultimately defeated 2-1 in a shootout. Florida struck first in the opening period, but Matt Reid tied it up with his 13th goal of the season in the second. After a scoreless third period and overtime, Peter Szabo scored the only shootout goal as the 'Blades out-shot the Rays in the shootout 2-1.

Saturday night found the Stingrays back at Germain Arena. Cail MacLean scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season and Viktor Dovgan scored his 2nd and 3rd goals, including the game winner in the victory. In addition, Josh Anderson scored his first goal since coming off the injured reserve on Friday night.

All-Star Break

The Stingrays are currently on break for the 2007 Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game.

The Stingrays have two representatives from the team present in Boise, ID. Rookie defenseman T.J. McElroy will be representing the Rays on the ice and Voice of the Rays Mike Kelly will be part of the television crew.

Catch the All-Star game locally live at 9 p.m. on January 17th on ESPN Radio 910 the Team and on the NHL Network, NHL Center Ice, America One and the B2Networks.

Team News:

After earning three of the possible four points this past weekend, the Stingrays are now 20-14-3 for 43 points. They are still tied for 4th place in the South Division with the Charlotte Checkers and are only five points behind division-leading Florida Everblades and Gwinnett Gladiators who each have 48 points.

The Stingrays are tied for 9th place in the league.

The Rays are 6-3-1 in their last ten games and currently have a one-game winning streak as they head into this weekend's games.

The team is averaging 5 goals a game in the month of January scoring 30 goals so far this month.

The Rays have a five-game home winning streak going which is their longest of the season. Their streak began on Dec. 20th.

The Stingrays are eighth in league on power play conversion with a 17.4% and are ninth on the penalty kill with an 84.6% success rate.

Matt Reid earned In Glas Co Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 1-7.

Despite Nate Kiser's 105 penalty minutes, the Stingrays are averaging only 17.4 PIMs a game, which places them last in the league.

Evan Schwabe has a seven-game assist streak going, scoring eight points on assists since Dec. 31st. He has scored an assist at home in every game since Dec. 16th.

Cail MacLean is tied for 17th in scoring for the league with 38 points.

Cam McCaffrey's five shorthanded points places him second in the league.

Davis Parley ranks first in wins with 18, which also ties his career-high. He is second in minutes (1847), and saves (917) and first in overtime wins (3).

Charlotte Bobcats Arena

7 p.m.

The Stingrays head to Charlotte to battle for third place in the division. The Rays are 1-2 against the Checkers this season with the only win coming in Charlotte. Hear the game live on ESPN Radio 910 the Team starting at 6:45 p.m.

January 20, 2007

North Charleston Coliseum

7:05 p.m.

Tonight the Stingrays will put out the Inferno's flame as Columbia comes to town. It's Pack the House night with every ticket in the Coliseum only $5. The Rays are 6-1 against the Inferno this season. Tonight's game will be broadcast on 1340am beginning at 6:50 p.m.
