Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have announced that defenseman Alexandre Rouleau and rookie center Daniel Winnik have each been assigned to the club by San Antonio of the American Hockey League.

Rouleau, 23, returns to the RoadRunners following a three-game stint with the Rampage in which he recorded two penalty minutes and was a plus-one since being recalled on Jan. 9. The Mont-Laurier, Quebec native and fourth-year pro leads all RoadRunners' defensemen and ranks 11th overall among ECHL blue-liners with five goals and 23 points through 31 games. Rouleau, who signed an AHL/ECHL two-way contract with San Antonio during the off-season, is a former third round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Winnik, 21, currently ranks third among Rampage rookies with five goals and 11 points in 33 games. The Mississauga, Ontario native was a Second-Team Hockey East All-Star and named to the All-New England Team after producing a career-high 41 points with 15 goals and 26 assists in 39 games last season as a junior at the University of New Hampshire. Winnik finished tied for fifth in the Hockey East scoring race and culminated his three-year collegiate career with 37 goals, 58 assists, and 95 points in 119 career games. He signed with the Coyotes on March 31, 2006 after being selected by Phoenix in the ninth round (#265 overall) at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Winnik is re-united with his former collegiate teammates forward Justin Aikins and defenseman Brian Yandle, and is the brother of former RoadRunners' defenseman Andrew Winnik.
