Fresno, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers (25-9-11, 61 points) defeated the Fresno Falcons (24-18-4, 52 points) 3-2 at the Save Mart Center on Friday night. Defenseman Aaron Power scored the game-winning goal and goalie Kevin Nastiuk made 30 saves for the Wranglers third straight win. Forwards Derek Edwardson and Chris Neiszner also scored in the victory. Las Vegas remains in a tie for first place in the Pacific Division with Bakersfield, as the Condors beat Stockton 2-1 in overtime. Las Vegas will play in Stockton on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm.
In the first period, Las Vegas scored early as Chris Neiszner netted his 15th of the season just 2:08 into the game. Forwards Nick Anderson and Joe Tallari cycled the puck down low to Neiszner, who beat Scott Stirling for the 1-0 Wranglers lead. Fresno tied the game 1-1 at 10:28 of the first period as Brett Hammond tipped in a loose puck for his second of the season. The Wranglers re-gained the lead at 11:24 with Derek Edwardson scoring his 14th of the season from Steve Crampton and Ryan Donally. Edwardson beat Stirling with a slapshot from the right-wing circle.
In the second period, Las Vegas opened up a 3-1 lead midway through the period, as Aaron Power blasted a shot through traffic from the left-point. Power's fifth goal of the season was set up by Jason Krischuk and Derek Edwardson. Former Wrangler, Lucas Lawson scored a power-play goal for the Falcons with 1:43 remaining in the second period, trimming the Las Vegas lead to 3-2.
The Wranglers will return home to host the Alaska Aces at 7:05 pm on Tuesday, February 13th at the Orleans Arena.
