Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons suffered their third straight loss on Friday, as they fell to the Las Vegas Wranglers 3-2 in front of 5,936 fans at Save Mart Center.

Las Vegas opened the scoring just 2:08 into the opening period as Chris Neiszner put a rebound past Scott Stirling, marking the seventh straight game in which the Falcons have allowed the first goal.

The Falcons pulled even at 10:28. Tom Walsh took a shot from the left point that deflected off of the body of Brett Hammond on the near post, and eluded goaltender Kevin Nastiuk for his second goal of the season.

But, the Wranglers went back on top just 56 seconds after Hammond's goal. Steve Crampton moved the puck to Derek Edwardson and he beat Stirling with a one timer to give Las Vegas a 2-1 lead through 40 minutes.

The Wranglers extended their lead to 3-1 15:27 into the second period. Derek Edwardson won a face-off back to Jason Krischuk at the right point, and he quickly moved the puck to Aaron Power at the left point, and Power beat Stirling with a one-timer for his fifth goal of the season.

Fresno ended an 0-for-25 drought on the power play at 18:17 to close the gap to one heading into the final period. Luke Curtin hit Hammond skating across the Las Vegas blue line, and Hammond moved the puck to Lucas Lawson on the back door. Lawson jammed a shot past Nastiuk for his first goal with the Falcons, and his seventh overall on the season.

That was as close as Fresno would get, as neither team scored in the final period of play.
