Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers collected their second shutout of the season tonight, beating the Ontario Reign 5-0 in front of a home crowd of 4,321 fans.
Scoring was opened up by Wranglers forward Eric Lampe with a goal seven minutes into the game. He tallied his second goal of the night with a minute left in the first, and the period ended 2-0 in favor of Las Vegas. On both goals, Lampe was assisted by forwards Josh Lunden and Judd Blackwater.
The Wranglers only added to their lead throughout the second period with three goals from three players. Defenseman Barry Goers netted a goal with help from Lampe and defenseman Jamie Fritsch almost five minutes into the frame, and two minutes later, center Ash Goldie secured the fourth mark for Las Vegas with assists from center Adam Miller and Goers. To win the game 5-0 and shut out Ontario, left wing Ned Lukacevic picked up a final power play goal in his first game back from the injured reserve, assisted by Blackwater and Goers.
The Wranglers take on the Stockton Thunder tomorrow night in the team's ninth annual Midnight Game. The puck drops at 11:59 p.m., and fans are encouraged to wear black to "black out" Orleans Arena. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
