Trenton Titans News Release

TRENTON, N.J. - Hoping to add some veteran experience on the back line, the Trenton Titans added 32-year-old Ray DiLauro to their roster this past week. He has registered four assists in three games with Trentonb (10-14-2-2-24).

DiLauro is spending his 11th season in professional hockey close to home. He grew up in Bensalem, Pa, just down the road from Trenton, and the Titans hope that his presence will provide stability, guidance some of his younger teammates, and ideally wins.

Asked what kind of expectations he has for his new team, DiLauro is very straightforward.

"I want to win a championship. This is a good group of guys, and I think they're going in the right direction, and I want to help them win." During the 2005-2006 season, DiLauro's Fresno Falcons team made it within one game of the Kelly Cup Finals, so he knows what it takes to win in the ECHL.

Having lived in the area, DiLauro is excited to play for Trenton.

"It's an amazing opportunity. I've spent 17 years playing hockey, playing professionally for 11 years. After spending all that time travelling, it's nice to get to play here in Trenton, being close to family and friends."

With defensemen Andy Thomas on loan, the Titans were looking to bolster their back line, and DiLauro is ready to answer the call. "I was excited when Vinny (Williams, Head Coach of the Titans) called. I've played against this team, and they've always been a first-class organization. I just want to help out the team and win."

DiLauro says all of his excitement and expectations were met or exceeded.

"Just on my first day, all these guys are so professional, everyone gets along. You can just tell. It clicks here."

The Titans are excited to have a defenseman with so much experience to call upon. Not only will DiLauro provide much needed skill, but his ability to give advice to the younger defensemen like Eric Baier, Corey Syvret, and Mitch Versteeg.

Having played for Titans division rivals Wheeling and Reading, as well as internationally in Italy, Austria, and Germany, DiLauro brings plenty of hockey experience to the table. Asked what keeps him coming back for more, he simply said "It's addicting. Having such a competitive nature, it's hard to give up playing hockey."

DiLauro's hockey career has seen him play in countless different cities for over a dozen professional teams with various expectations, but for once he's excited just to be close to home.

"Trenton fans have always created a great atmosphere. I'm excited to get the chance to play here, play in a high-skill league, and help the team win."
