
Wranglers comeback falls short, Falcons win in OT 5-4

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® were edged by the Fresno Falcons 5-4 in overtime on Friday night in front of 4,606 fans at the Orleans Arena. Center Oren Eizenman scored twice, including the game-winning goal 1:35 into overtime, and dished out an assist in Fresno's road victory. Las Vegas scored three goals in the final six minutes, capped by Adam Cracknell's 14th goal of the season with 16-seconds remaining to force overtime. Forwards Cracknell (1G-1A) and Aki Seitsonen (2A), as well as defenseman Jason Krischuk (1G-1A) each enjoyed multi-point nights in the defeat. Goalie Kevin Lalande stopped 31 of 36, falling to 5-0-2 on the season. Fresno goalie Jake Moreland stopped 27 of 31 Las Vegas shots in the victory. The same two teams meet again Saturday night at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
Forward Kelly Czuy opened the scoring at 9:29 of the first period, giving Las Vegas a 1-0 lead. Fresno would tie the game at 13:40 as Kenny Bernard scored his third goal of the year.
The Falcons took the lead in the second period at 3:20. Oren Eizenman scored his 18th goal of the season, giving Fresno the one-goal lead heading into the third period.
In the third period, Joe Van Culin and P.O. Beaulieu each scored as the Falcons pushed their lead to 4-1. The Wranglers mounted a come back by scoring three goals in the final six minutes. Defenseman Jason Krischuk started the charge, scoring his third of the season at 14:01 to cut the Fresno lead to 4-2. The Wranglers scored again just 46-seconds later, pulling within one goal at 4-3. Forward Josh Sciba scored his fifth goal of the season off a loose-puck rebound in front of the Fresno net. Las Vegas pulled goalie Kevin Lalande with less than a minute remaining and took advantage of a Fresno penalty as Matt O'Dette was whistled for delay of game with 21-seconds remaining. Right wing Adam Cracknell scored his 14th goal of the season off a face-off, tying the game 4-4 with only 16-seconds remaining.
Oren Eizenman snapped his 19th goal of the season past Lalande just 1:35 into overtime, lifting Fresno over Las Vegas 5-4.
Las Vegas continues a six-game home stand with the Fresno Falcons on Saturday, January 5th at 7:05 pm. The Wranglers and Falcons will also play on Tuesday, January 8th at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
