Wranglers Bit By Grizzlies 5-2

West Valley, UT - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (6-7-2, 14 Points) were defeated by the Utah Grizzlies (7-7-0, 14 Points) 5-2 at the E-Center on Saturday night. Utah goalie Mike Mole stopped 43 of 45 Las Vegas shots for the win. Las Vegas defensemen Bret Tyler and Jeff May each scored in the defeat. Goalie Kevin Lalande took the loss, stopping 15 of 21 Utah shots. Las Vegas will play in Phoenix on Saturday at 6:05 PM (PST).

The Grizzlies jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period of play. Utah started the scoring just 5:40 into the game as defenseman Jordan Hart beat Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande with a wrist shot for his first pro goal in 112 games. Utah tallied again at 13:49 as Mike Walsh redirected a shot from the right-point for his fourth goal of the season and a 2-0 Grizzlies lead. With Las Vegas on the power play, Utah struck again at 17:11. James Sixsmith skated into the Wranglers' zone and beat Lalandeon the blocker side for his fifth goal of the year and a 3-0 lead. It was the first shorthanded goal the Wranglers had allowed all season.

In the second period, Utah expanded their lead to 4-0 just 5:58 into the game. Forward Justin Johnson snapped a shot past Lalande for his first goal of the season. Las Vegas got on the scoreboard with 1:14. Defenseman Jeff May rifled a shot from the point that deflected off traffic and into the back of the net for his fifth goal of the year. Las Vegas trailed 4-1 after two periods of play.

In the third period, Las Vegas trimmed the Utah lead to 4-2 with a power-play goal by Bret Tyler. Defenseman Mike Madill set up Tyler's first career goal. Matt Craig gave the Grizzlies a three-goal lead at 17:56 at 5-2.

Las Vegas will play in Phoenix on Saturday at 6:05 PM (PST). Las Vegas will return home to host Fresno on Monday, December 1st and Tuesday, December 2nd at 7:30 PM at the Orleans Arena.
