Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - In a Friday night match-up the Victoria Salmon Kings and Alaska Aces met for the second time in three nights. The Salmon Kings started Jonathan Boutin in net while the Aces countered with Chris Holt.

The Kings started the scoring 17:38 into the first period with a wrap-around backhand goal from Jacob Dietrich. That would be Dietrich's first goal of the season. After the first period the Salmon Kings lead the Aces 1-0 going into the second frame. The shots would also be in the Kings favour at 12-8.

The second period saw a surplus of chances for Victoria. The Kings capitalized in the final minute to extend the lead to 2-0 when Darryl Lloyd would bury home his second of the season. It was a busy period for the Aces' goalie who stopped 16 of 17 shots taken by the Kings. Victoria would lead 2-0 going into the final frame. Shots continued to be in the Salmon Kings favour at 29-15.

With 11:02 remaining in the 3rd period the Aces would draw to within one when Cam Keith tipped in a Colin Hemingway pass. With the net empty Wes Goldie would add some insurance finding the yawning cage for his 11th goal of the season. Salmon Kings 3 Aces 1.

Victoria went 0/3= 0% on the power play and Alaska ended 0/5= 0%.
