Buffalo Bisons News Release

The baseball was flying all over Saturday evening, just not in the Bisons' favor.

Worcester hit four home runs, two by Red Sox prospect Jarren Duran, to power their way to a 7-4 victory over the Herd from Polar Park. Christian Colon homered for the Bisons, but Buffalo was outhit 12-6 in falling to their Northeast division rival.

The WooSox wasted little time to get on the scoreboard as Duran led off the bottom of the first inning with a double and then scored when the next batter, the rehabbing Christian Arroyo, hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at one.

Worcester then starting the home run party as Jeter Downs took a Nick Allgeyer pitch to deep centerfield to give the WooSox the lead. Two pitches later, Yairo Munoz went back-to-back with his first home run of the year to left field for the 3-1 WooSox advantage

From then on, it was the Jarren Duran show. The right fielder went 5-for-5 including home runs in the fourth and sixth inning. In the fourth, he hit a 3-1 offering form Allgeyer over the 'Worcester Wall' in right-center for his sixth home run of the season. Two innings later, he led off the sixth by pulling a Dany Jimenez offering down the right field for his team-high seventh of the year.

The homers were estimated by the WooSox to have gone 480 and 475 feet respectively.

Even with the four Worcester home runs, the Bisons were able to bring the tying run to the plate before the game was over. Trailing 6-1 in the sixth, Colon clubbed a no-doubt home run to left for the Herd's first run since Kevin Smith's sac fly in the first inning. For Colon, the homer was his fourth of the season, giving him 13 RBI on the young campaign.

Buffalo got back on the scoreboard in eighth inning, thanks to Forrest Wall's impressive speed. After the outfielder led off the inning with a walk, he went first to third on Colon's single and then scored on a 'sac pop' as Breyvic Valera hit a shallow fly to center caught by the Worcester second baseman.

Then in the ninth, after two outs were recorded, the next three Bisons batters reached base. Following a Riley Adams walk and a single from Dilson Herrera, Richard Urena singled sharply off the shortstop's glove to make the score 7-4. However, as the tying run, Wall was struck out by Red Sox reliever, Matt Hall, to end the game.

The Herds' starting pitcher Allgeyer returned to rotation on Saturday after his contract was purchased by the Blue Jays on May 15th (did not pitch). The southpaw spent four innings on the mound, allowing six of the Woo Sox' seven runs. He struck out five batters through four

The Herds' hitters struggled to put the ball in play as they struck out 13 times themselves. The club also failed to get their lead-off hitters on base today, going 0-for-9. In comparison, the Woo Sox got their lead-off hitter on base five times.

The Bisons (11-6) take on the Woo Sox (10-7) Sunday afternoon at 1:05 pm for the final game of the series. T.J. Zeuch is expected to start for the Herd. Zeuch is looking for revenge against the WooSox after allowing nine hits and seven runs through 4.2 innings earlier this week.
