Hartford, Conn. - Trevor Smith scored his team leading 23rd goal of the season while the Sound Tigers were shorthanded in the third period but it wasn't enough as the Hartford Wolf Pack beat Sound Tigers' starting goalie Nathan Lawson to earn the 3-1 win. Greg Moore also tallied a shorthanded goal for the Wolf Pack in the first period and Jordan Owens and Mike Ouellete both scored in the third. With the loss, the Sound Tigers record drops to 26-15-3-2 leaving them with 57 points, putting them in third place in the East Division.

Moore, the recently appointed Wolf Pack captain, opened the game's scoring 13:21 into the first period. With the Sound Tigers on the power-play, Pierre Parenteau broke up a play in the Hartford zone and fed a cross-ice pass to Moore along the left wing boards. Moore drove to the net, shielding the puck from the Sound Tiger defenseman, and backhanded a shot through the legs of Lawson for the 1-0 Wolf Pack lead. Michael Sauer had an assist on Moore's 14th goal of the season.

The Wolf Pack would tilt the ice towards Lawson in the middle frame but Lawson was up for the challenge. Hartford fired 10 shots on the Sound Tiger net-minder but Lawson turned each Wolf Pack attempt aside.

Owens would double Hartford's lead with less than five minutes to play in the third period with his eighth tally of the season making the score 2-1 Wolf Pack. While shorthanded, the Sound Tigers would finally break Hartford net-minder, Matt Zaba's shutout bid with 1:43 left to play in regulation time. Sean Bentivoglio led a rush into the Wolf Pack zone and sent a pass to Smith who was trailing the play in the right circle. The Sound Tigers' leading goal scorer did not make any mistake in scoring his 23rd goal of the season, one-timing the puck over the shoulder of Zaba to make the score 2-1 in favor of Hartford. Ouellette would put the game out of reach for the Wolf Pack 31 seconds later with his ninth marker of the year to finish the game's scoring at 3-1 in favor of Hartford.

Lawson suffered the loss to drop his season mark to 10-5-1 while Zaba earned his eighth win of the season making 25 saves. The Sound Tigers were 0-for-3 on the power-play and a perfect 6-for-6 on the penalty-kill.
