Turple Heads to Utah

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned goaltender DAN TURPLE from the Chicago Wolves to the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies.

The 24-year-old netminder has posted a 5-8-0 record with a 2.94 goals-against average and .897 save percentage in 13 contests with Chicago this year, which includes allowing two or fewer goals in six of outings during his rookie season in the American Hockey League.

The Hamilton, Ontario, native, backstopped 30 matchups with the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators last season, posting a 15-12-2 record, with a 3.16 goals-against average. He also made his AHL debut in one game with the Grand Rapids Griffins last year, notching a 3.00 goals-against average in 20 minutes of action.

Overall, TURPLE has accrued a 33-25-5 record with a 3.49 goals-against average and .891 save percentage in 67 career ECHL outings with Gwinnett from 2006 to 2008.

The Wolves travel to Wisconsin tonight to face the West Division-leading Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center at 7 p.m., before returning home to take on the Houston Aeros at the Allstate Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
