Abbotsford Heat News Release

A San Antonio comeback resulted in a 4-2 defeat for the Flames on Friday night at the AT&T Center. The Rampage scored three times in the third en route to the victory. Kyle Greentree and Brett Palin supplied the goals for Quad City as the team wrapped up a nine-game road trip with a 2-4-1-2 mark.

In the first period, the Flames took a 1-0 lead while setting a franchise record for shots on goal in a single period with 25. An early onslaught of Flames chances were turned aside by San Antonio netminder Josh Tordjman. He made 15 saves through the opening 13 minutes of the period with the teams skating at even strength. Shortly after Quad City's John Armstrong was sent off for hooking at 13:12 of the period, a wave of Rampage penalties began. The Flames spent the final six minutes of the period on the power-play with four man advantages including three 5-on-3 power plays. During the first 5-on-3 advantage, Kyle Greentree scored on a shot from the right wing circle. The tally was assisted by Carsen Germyn and Anders Eriksson and stood up as the only goal of the opening 20 minutes.

The teams traded power-play goals in the second period. Kevin Porter netted his third goal of the year during a San Antonio man advantage at 7:43 of the middle frame. Porter converted following a goal-mouth scramble in the Flames zone. David Spina failed to convert before Porter recovered the free puck and slammed it past Flames netminder Matt Keetley. Brett Palin put the Flames back in front when he tipped home a beautiful cross-ice feed from Jamie Lundmark during a Flames power play at 15:12 of the second period. It was the fifth goal of the season for Palin and gave the Flames a 2-1 lead at the end of two periods.

The Rampage charged back to earn the win with three third period goals. David Spina scored when he tipped home a Chad Kolarik point shot during a Rampage power play just 39 seconds into the frame. The Rampage moved in front for the first time when Kevin Porter netted his second goal of the night with just 6:12 left in regulation. Brett MacLean secured the victory when he scored on a wraparound chance at 17:27 of the closing period.
