Bulldogs Lose to Marlies 4-2

Toronto, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Toronto Marlies 4-2 on Friday night at Ricoh Coliseum. Tim Stapleton recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Marlies to victory.

Toronto opened the game's scoring at 6:05 of the first frame. Richard Petiot received the puck at the left point before blasting a shot on net. Jiri Tlusty tipped the puck out of mid-air and past Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins.

Hamilton tied the game 1-1 while on the power play at 10:09 of the second stanza. David Desharnais sent a pass to Mike Glumac, who was positioned in the right corner. Glumac skated out in front of the net before flicking a backhand shot past the blocker of Toronto starting goaltender Justin Pogge. The goal was Glumac's team-leading 20th goal of the season.

Kyle Rogers regained a one-goal lead for the Marlies at 12:26 of the middle frame. Desjardins stopped a Darryl Boyce shot but was unable to contain the rebound. Rogers whacked at the loose puck sending it past a sprawled Desjardins. Stapleton added a goal at 16:54 to give Toronto a 3-1 lead. Staffan Kronwall sent a pass to Stapleton, who wristed a shot that sailed through traffic and past Desjardins.

Stapleton added his second goal of the game at 9:05 of the third stanza. Boyd Devereaux fed a pass to Stapleton, who was skating towards the net. Stapleton received the pass before snapping a shot over the glove of Desjardins to make the game 4-1.

The Bulldogs added a power-play marker at 14:27 of the final frame. Mathieu Carle received a rebound but elected to pass the puck to Brock Trotter instead of shooting. Trotter waited patiently before firing the puck into the back of the net.
