Marlies Release Schneider From SPC

Jeff Jackson, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has released defenceman Andy Schneider from his AHL standard player's contract.

Schneider, 27, appeared in 32 games with the Marlies this season collecting five points (five assists), 42 penalty minutes and a plus-eight rating. The 6'1, 215-pound defenceman was originally the Pittsburgh Penguins seventh choice, 156th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

The Marlies are back in action tonight when they take on their division-rivals, the Hamilton Bulldogs - AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens - at Ricoh Coliseum at 7:00 p.m. Toronto hosts the Rockford IceHogs - AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks - on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The first 5,000 fans attending Saturday's game will receive a Doug Gilmour bobblehead. Friday and Saturday's home games will air live on Rogers TV Cable 10 in Toronto and 63 in Scarborough. Fans can listen to all Toronto Marlies regular season games on THE FAN 590 or fan590.com.
