Portland Winterhawks News Release
Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club today announced that it has recalled forward Kyle McDonough from the Okotoks Oilers of the AEHL to the active roster as an affiliate player.
McDonough, 16, recorded 16 goals and 21 assists for 31 points with the Oilers' U18 AAA program this year, ranking second in team scoring in his first year as a U18 player. The Langdon, Alta. native also posted a goal and an assist across three playoff games with the Oilers this season. Last month, McDonough also notched one goal and two assists with Team Alberta at the 2023 Canada Winter Games, starring alongside fellow Winterhawks prospect Ryan Miller.
Originally selected by the Winterhawks in the second round, #40 overall, of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft, McDonough signed with the club on Sept. 8, 2022, following a strong showing at the team's Neely Cup Training Camp.
After sporting #8 during preseason play, McDonough will wear #18 with the team moving forward.
