Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

Moose Jaw, SK - For the second time in three weeks, the Moose Jaw Warriors meet the Swift Current Broncos for a weekend home-and-home series.

The Warriors and Broncos split their two games at the end of February with the home team coming out on top in both games.

This time around, the Warriors will be making their way to Swift Current to open up the two-game set, battling the Broncos at the InnovationPlex on Friday night.

"Swift Current is a good team, especially on their ice, we've got to come out stronger and be a bit faster off the start," Warriors forward Jagger Firkus said.

In the previous home-and-home, after winning 4-3 at the Hangar, the Warriors dropped a 4-0 game in Swift Current in which the Broncos scored twice in the opening three minutes and then added two empty net goals late.

"I thought we had a good start in terms of our energy level, playing the right way, it was a couple quick turnovers that went in the back of the net," Warriors head coach Mark O'Leary said.

Firkus said the start is going to be key for the Warriors.

"Our starts haven't been the best against them, but Friday night, I know myself will come out ready to go and hopefully we can get a win there," he said.

The Warriors are heading into Swift Current after five days off and coming off a 5-3 win over Prince Albert last Saturday. That win snapped a three-game losing skid for Moose Jaw.

O'Leary said the Warriors had a good week of practice and rest to get ready for this weekend's games.

"The guys did a real good job of balancing the rest and the work," he said. "We had some real good days in the gym and on the ice and we're feeling good about our game going into the weekend."

While the Warriors are 4-6-0-0 in their last ten games, Firkus said there's still a lot of positive momentum for the team heading into the final three weekends of the regular season.

"There's a lot of momentum on this team," he said. "There's still things that we can clean up and there's a little bit of changes in our system right now, so hopefully we can come out and play a good game."

The Warriors and Broncos meet on Friday night at 7 p.m. at InnovationPlex.

The home-and-home set will then shift to Moose Jaw where the Warriors will host the Broncos for Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

There will be special edition jerseys up for raffle and giveaways throughout the night, including the first 1,000 fans through the door receive Warriors hockey card packs.
