Wild Third Period Goes in as a Walleye Win 5-4

Toledo, OH - Shane Berschbach had a three point night and Tyson Spink scored late in the third period to lead the Walleye to a 5-4 win over Manchester Friday night at the Huntington Center. Toledo has an overall record of 44-19-2-3 and 25-18-0-1 on home ice.

Toledo started fast on Friday night with a pair of goals in the first 3:31 of the first period. After the shot from Vili Saarijarvi was stopped, Shane Berschbach (24th) tapped in the rebound at 1:05 for a 1-0 lead. Evan Rankin (13th) capitalized on a breakaway at 3:31 of the first period for a 2-0 advantage. Manchester got one back with a power play goal at 5:39.

Early in the second period, Tylor Spink (2nd) took a Berschbach pass to give the Walleye a 3-1 lead at the 1:15 mark. The fireworks started in the third period when Manchester scored a pair of goals in three minutes and 22 seconds to even the score.

Defenseman Matt Caito buried a wrist shot at 6:05 of the third period for his first professional goal. Manchester tied the game again at 11:13 when Joe Diamond floated a wrist shot past Toledo goaltender Jeff Lerg. In the first professional game for Tyson Spink he would net the game-winning goal at 15:56 with a backhand shot under the pads of Monarchs goaltender Doug Carr.
