Americans Open Weekend Series in Missouri

Kansas City, Missouri - The Allen Americans play their final two regular season games against the Missouri Mavericks this weekend with Friday & Saturday night games at Independence Events Center. Both games start at 7:05 pm.
The Americans split the games with Missouri last weekend, winning on Saturday night 4-1 and then dropping a 3-1 decision on Sunday afternoon. The Americans are 3-6-0 against Missouri this season and 0-3-0 on the road.
"These are two big games for us this weekend," said Americans Co-Captain Gary Steffes. "We have a good enough team to beat any team on any night in any building, but against these guys we have to play smart, and capitalize on the chances we're given."
The Americans will have two new faces in the lineup this evening with defenseman Thomas Carr, who was signed on Wednesday from the University of Alberta, and Nikita Jevpalovs, who was assigned to Allen by the Americans NHL affiliate the San Jose Sharks, from the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League. To make room for Carr, the Americans cut defenseman Mike Gunn. In 50 games this season, Gunn had 3 goals and 7 points.
"Both these players will help us five-on-five said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "We had a chance to see Jevpalovs a couple months ago and he made an immediate impact. Carr is a strong defenseman with good skill."
