NAILERS VS. TOLEDO (Wednesday, February 8): (SEASON SERIES: 3-3-1)..The Wheeling Nailers play their second home game of three in February against Toledo. The Storm (21-12-5), the ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings and San Jose Sharks, are currently third in the North Division 11 points behind the Nailers but do have six games in hand. Toledo has been one of the hottest teams in the ECHL going 7-2-1 in their last ten games. Ken Magowan leads the way offensively with 38 points and 11 power play goals. The Toledo offense has been explosive in the third period outscoring the opposition 60-30. In the seven meetings between the two teams, Scooter Smith and Magown each have seven points against the Nailers. The Nailers, who are 2-1-0 at home against Toledo, have been led by Sean Collins nine points. Three of the last four games between the two teams have been decided by one goal.

NAILERS VS. DAYTON (Friday, February 10): (SEASON SERIES: WHEELING 7-0-0)..The Wheeling Nailers begin a seven game road trip on Friday in Dayton. The Nailers are 7-0-0 against the Bombers this season. Dayton has been plagued by call-ups and injuries but enter the weekend on a two-game winning streak. The Bombers (14-27-3), the ECHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, are currently in sixth in the North Division 13 points out of a playoff spot. Dayton is 10-12-0 at home this season. Scott Cameron leads the way with 45 points in 39 games. Marco Capara has accumulated the most majors (18) in the ECHL. In the seven meetings between the two teams Dayton has only scored 13 goals with Jeff Szwez posting six of those. The Nailers are 3-0-0 in Dayton.

NAILERS VS. CHARLOTTE (Saturday, February 11): (SEASON SERIES: 1-1-0)..The Wheeling Nailers travel to the Queen City for the rubber match against the Checkers. The two teams split a pair in Wheeling back in December. The Checkers (22-20-4), the ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, are currently fourth in the South Division. Charlotte has lost three straight. The Checkers are led by All-Star defenseman Rory Rawlyk's 30 points. Charlotte has the 5th best penalty kill unit in the ECHL (84.8). Juris Stalls and Nathan Gillies both scored two goals against Wheeling while Jordan Cameron paced the Nailers with five points. This is the next to last game for Wheeling outside of their division. Wheeling hosts Greenville on March 3rd.

NAILER ACTION LAST WEEK Nailers 2 vs. Reading 3 (overtime) (Friday, February 3): John Morlang scored with 41 seconds to go in overtime to give Reading the victory. Alex Rouleau and Luis Tremblay both netted goals.

Nailers 1 @ Reading 3 (Saturday, February 4): Terry Virtue's power play goal in the third wasn't enough for the Nailers to comeback in Reading. Wheeling went 1 for 13 on the power play.

Nail bits: Wheeling is 5-3-2 in the last 10 games...When the Nailers score 4 or more goals they are 20-0-0...Overall the Nailers are 1 for 3 in penalty shots.....The crowd of 4,790 on Saturday (1/28) was the largest of the season...The two goals scored in the first 59 seconds of the game on Sunday (1/29) were the fastest two goals to begin a game in Nailer history...The Nailers point total is 5th overall in ECHL and 2nd in the American Conference....Wheeling has outscored the opposition 47-30 in the first period...The Nailers are 20-3-1 when they lead after the second period and 16-3-1 when they score first....Against division opponents the Nailers are 22-11-3 and play all but 2 of their remaining games in the division....The Nailers have allowed the fewest shots on average per game at 26.89...Wheeling has only allowed an average of 2.66 goals per game...The Nailers have killed off 39 of the last 40 power plays against them and haven risen to 7th in the league at 83.7% kill rate...The last four goals scored by Wheeling have been scored by defenseman...Wheeling is 2-2 in shootouts and Tim Verbeek is 4 for 4...The Nailers are 7-0 against Dayton and 4-1-1 against Johnstown...The Nailers are winless in their last two games...Eight players have scored at least 10 goals this year...The magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 29 points...
