Grizzlies Continue Home Stand
February 6, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
In a Nutshell Utah is home Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this week continuing their seven-game home stand. Following this home stand, the Grizzlies have just six regular season home games remaining.
Michaud Returns Hot! Utah Grizzlies goaltender Alfie Michaud returned to the Utah lineup Wednesday for the first time in a month following an injury. The 2002-03 ECHL goaltender of the year collected three out of a possible four points this week, going 1-0-1 with a 2.40 GAA and a .924 save percentage.
Leave The Scoring To Jeff Jeff Miles is riding a five-game point streak for the Grizzlies. During that time, he has scored four goals and four assists. His longest point streak of the year is seven games, during which he scored one goal and tallied nine assists from October 28-November 13.
E-Center Scoring Machine Following a second period power-play goal, on Saturday, Colt King has scored nine of his ten goals in a Utah uniform at the E-Center. Including the time he spent with Augusta earlier this season, the former fourth-round pick of the Colorado Avalanche has 14 goals on the year.
Talk About A Losing Effort In Friday's 5-3 loss to Fresno, Utah defenseman Treavor Peterson earned a +3. That means he was on the ice for all three Utah goals, and for none of Fresno's scoring.
Already A Career Year For Cameron With 13 goals and 15 assists, Garett Cameron has already set a career high in goals scored and points scored (28). Cameron is playing in his first full ECHL season after splitting last year with two CHL teams. Scoring is not a new part of his game though, during the 2003-2004 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs, he led Jason Christie's Peoria Rivermen in goals scored with four.
Starting Strong Over the last five games, the Grizzlies are outscoring the opposition 5-2 in the first period.
More On Starting Strong Friday's 5-3 loss to Fresno was just the second loss of the season for Utah when leading after one period. The Grizzlies are 14-2 when carrying a lead into the second period this year.
Roll Out The Welcome Wagon Thursday, the Grizzlies claimed forward Tanner Shultz off of waivers from the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Following a long day of travel, he was in the Utah lineup Friday versus Fresno. In 7 games with Pensacola, the rookie had one goal and 19 penalty minutes. During his final two years of junior hockey, the 21-year-old averaged over 300 penalty minutes a season.
Kinasewich Lives For Las Vegas With Las Vegas coming back to town Saturday, this seems like a good time to remind the world of Ryan Kinasewich's first three games this season versus Las Vegas, in which he registered four goals and three assists (including a hat trick and three power-play goals.)
