Johnstown Chiefs News Release


WEEKLY SUMMARY: The Johnstown Chiefs (18-17-10) went 1-0-2 last week, including a pair of shoot-out losses to Dayton. The Chiefs blanked Trenton on Wednesday, 5-0. The Chiefs fell in the shoot-out in Dayton on Friday, 4-3, and then again on Saturday in Johnstown, 3-2. For the first time this season, the Chiefs ended a week above .500. The Chiefs travel to Trenton on Tuesday, host Toledo on Friday, then begin a home and home series with Dayton, on Saturday and Sunday.

Game #43 (2/01/06) JOHNSTOWN 5 - Trenton 0 Cey 28 Saves

Morgan Cey picked up his first professional shut-out, stopping all 28 shots he faced, including several spectacular saves. After a scoreless first period, in front of a crowd of just over 1400, the Chiefs pulled away in the second period. J.B Bittner, Brad Thompson, Doug Andress and John Toffey scored for the Chiefs to make it 4-0, after two. Steve Cygan scored his third of the year on a break-away to close out the scoring. Cygan, Andress and Bittner each had a goal and an assist. Brett Peterson had a pair of assists.

Game #44 (2/3/06) DAYTON 3 - Johnstown 2 SO Cey 31 saves

Dmitri Tarabrin scored a pair of power play goals, including the tying score with just over seven minutes remaining, but the Chiefs fell in the shoot-out to Dayton. The Chiefs record in shoot-outs dropped to 2-8. Ian Manzano assisted on both Tarabrin goals. Scott Cameron and Mark Flood returned to the Dayton line-up to register assists. The Chiefs shoot-out record fell to 2-9, as the Chiefs again battled back in the third period to tie the game, but were again blanked in the shoot-out. Randy Rowe scored a pair of goals. Dmitri Tarabrin added a pair of assists, giving him five points for the week. Justin Kelly contributed his 17th of the year, and an assist. UPCOMING OPPONENTS:
