Tuesday, January 31st CONDORS 2 vs. Alaska 4 Attendance: 4,003 Kevin St. Jacques extended his home point streak to eight games in the Bakersfield Condors' 4-2 loss to the Alaska Aces at the Rabobank Arena.
Friday, February 3rd CONDORS 2 vs. San Diego 1 Attendance: 6,615 In his first game back since suffering an ankle injury on January 13th, Dave Bonk scored the game- winning shorthanded goal and assisted on Kevin St. Jacques' 14th goal of the season en route to a 2-1 Bakersfield victory over the San Diego Gulls.
Saturday, February 4th CONDORS 4 vs. Las Vegas 6 Attendance: 5,799 Mike Hofstrand's goal late in the third period tied the game at 4-4 before Marco Peluso's game-winner 25 seconds later pushed the Las Vegas Wranglers to a 6-4 win over the Bakersfield Condors.
Sunday, February 5th CONDORS 4 @ Stockton 2 Sean Venedam recorded his second hat trick of the season, including two goals on the power play as the Bakersfield Condors cruised to a 4-2 victory over the Stockton Thunder in front of 3,066 fans at the Stockton Arena.
Where we are The Condors (18-17-5, 41 points) narrowed the gap with two division wins this weekend. Bakersfield stands at 4th place in the Pacific Division, only two points behind San Diego for 3rd with two fewer games played. Fresno leads the division with a record of 25-8-10 for 60 points while Long Beach keeps pace in 2nd with 53 points (24-16-5).
Notes from the Nest -Sean Venedam's hat trick on Sunday at Stockton was the second of the season for Bakersfield. During the 2004-05 season, the Condors had a total of 3 hat tricks. -Venedam's season-high seven-game point streak ended Saturday against Las Vegas. -Kevin St. Jacques extended his home point streak to ten games with a goal on Saturday against the Wranglers. -With the win over the Gulls on Friday, the Condors improved their home record over Pacific Division opponents to 6-0-3. -In the three consecutive games from Friday through Sunday, Ryan Munce made over 40 saves per game. The Los Angeles Kings goaltending prospect stopped 41 shots against both San Diego and Las Vegas, and saved 42 against Stockton.
Recent Transactions The Condors made two trades in two days before Friday night's game against San Diego. On Wednesday, Bakersfield acquired center Brian Collins and future considerations from the Pensacola Ice Pilots for defenseman Nate Metcalf. On Thursday, former Condor Mathieu Brunelle returned to Bakersfield via trade with the Trenton Titans that sent Jason Norrie to the defending Kelly Cup Champions. Prior to the Sunday game in Stockton, the Condors announced the signing of defenseman Steve Howard.
