Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors today announced the signing of defenseman Steve Howard and right wing Josh Liebenow.
Howard and Liebenow arrive after half a season with the Korean team Kangwonland of the Asia League. Howard, a 6-foot defenseman, racked up five points and nine assists in 36 games with Kangwonland this season, while Liebenow, a 5-foot-8 right wing, ranked in the top 15 in goals scored with 16 at the time of his departure.
Howard, 27, is in his sixth professional season after a season of NCAA Division III hockey at SUNY-Brockport. The 195- pound Howard has spent much of his pro career with the Macon Trax and the Huntsville Havoc. Last year, Howard made seven appearances with the Trenton Titans after a playoff run with Huntsville.
Liebenow, 25, is in the midst of his third year in the pros. Following three collegiate seasons at the University of Wisconsin- Superior, Liebenow recorded 11 goals and 22 assists in his rookie campaign with the Miami Manatees. Last season, the 185-pound forward netted 15 goals in 37 games with the Huntsville Havoc.
"We needed a little more depth with our injuries," said Head Coach Marty Raymond. "We decided to get a couple of solid, hard-working utility players. I know them very well and am sure they'll fit well with us."
The Condors also announced the activation of Chris Hodgson from the 7-Day Injured Reserve and the placement of Eric Neilson and Andrew Ianiero to the 7-Day IR.
The Condors head to Boise for a three game set against the Idaho Steelheads starting Wednesday, February 8th, with a day off before back-to-back games on February 10th and 11th at 6:10pm Pacific Time. Bakersfield returns home on Wednesday, February 15th against San Diego for Valentine's Day Part II and High School/College ID Night sponsored by WB-12 and the Big 96.5.
