Gladiators Tie Record Win Streak
February 6, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Seven in a Row! The Gladiators tied a team high 7-game winning streak with a 5-3 win over the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Saturday night. At 7 games, the winning streak is the longest in Gladiators team history tying the previous mark set earlier this season from December 26th through January 7th. The Gladiators continue to remain in first place in the South Division and currently rank first overall in the American Conference with 65 points, 7 points ahead of the second place Wheeling Nailers.
Almost 50! Gladiators forward Jeff Campbell needs just one goal for 50 in his Gladiators career after recording his 49th career goal in Friday night's 3-2 win over the South Carolina Stingrays. Campbell entered the season with 30 goals in his Gladiators career and now has 19 on the year. With his 50th goal, he will join Chris Durno as the only other Gladiator to post 50 goals in a Gladiators career, a feat Durno accomplished in a 5-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers back on November 22nd.
Up to Norfolk: Danny Eberly was called up to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League on Thursday. He becomes the 12th player called up from the Gladiators and the 10th to the American Hockey League. Eberly posted a goal in one game with Worcester during his only game in the AHL during the 2003-04 season. In two games with the Admirals against Binghamton this weekend, Eberly had an assist in Friday's 6-4 win and an assist in Saturday's 2-1 loss in the AHL.
No trespassing in this Field: Gladiators netminder Sean Fields recorded his second shutout of the season blanking the Greenville Grrrowl 5-0 on Tuesday at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Edmonton, Alberta native made 31 saves for the shutout. With two shutouts on the season, Fields set a new career high for shutouts in a season snapping his previous high of one set during his rookie season last year. Fields' first shutout this season came back on October 28th in a 6-0 blanking of the Pensacola Ice Pilots in Pensacola.
A Streaker! Derek Nesbitt holds the Gladiators longest current point scoring streak with a point in each of the Gladiators last seven games. He has posted 10 points (3g, 7a) during that span. He tied the previous team high 9 games streak from 12/27 - 1/12.
