Warriors Continue Road Trip in Alberta this Weekend

December 3, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL) - Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

The Moose Jaw Warriors are starting to make their way back East after a successful stint in the B.C. Division.

Moose Jaw finished the B.C. portion of their seven-game road trip with a 4-1 record after skating to a hard fought, comeback win in Vancouver on Wednesday.

"I'm very impressed," Warriors forward Ryder Korczak said on the team's success on the road trip. "There's a couple of good teams out there, it would have been nice to beat Prince George, but we moved on from it."

The Warriors opened the road trip with a loss in Prince George, but have strung together four straight wins since then.

Korczak said the team has shown grit and character over the course of the trip.

"We have a lot of games in a short amount of days, so that's what it takes to win a couple of games," he said.

"It's been pretty crazy being away from home for two weeks, but the guys have done a good job. B.C. is a nice place to play, there's a couple of cool cities and the guys embraced the experience."

The trip isn't over for the Warriors as they will now prepare to face two Central Division foes in Alberta this weekend, starting on Saturday night in Red Deer.

"We can't be quitting on ourselves here, we've got two good teams coming up and we want to finish off with a good four points," Korczak said.

On Saturday in Red Deer, the Warriors will be looking to avenge a pair of home losses to the Rebels.

Korczak said the Warriors will need to counter the Rebels' systems with speed.

"They play a professional game, it's kind of a trap, but our speed will take over and then our skill take over," he said. "If we use our speed in the neutral zone, we can get through them."

The Warriors and Rebels face-off on Saturday at 8 p.m. CST. Moose Jaw will then finish off the road trip with an afternoon showdown with the Hitmen in Calgary on Sunday.

Tune into all the action on Country 100 and WHL Live, starting with the Pre-Game at 7:40 p.m. CST on Saturday.
