
Wheat Kings Pick Up Victory in Marty Murray's Coaching Debut

BRANDON M.B. - The Wheat Kings defeat the Prince Albert Raiders by a score of 5-4 Friday.
The Raiders got off to a hot start with Hayden Pakkala making it 1-0 just under 6 minutes into the game. The Wheat Kings would take over the second half of the period with Luke Shipley scoring his first as a Wheat King to tie it up. Then late in the first Shipley would keep the puck inside the attacking zone feeding Zakhar Polshakov allowing Polshakov to score his 3rd of the year to take a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
The Wheat Kings came out flying in the second period with Nate Danielson scoring only 12 seconds into the period scoring his 100th career WHL point to make it 3-1. Only 61 seconds later Brett Hyland would add to the lead with his 8th of the year off a Quinn Mantei shot to make it 4-1. The Raiders would score off the rush with Harrison Lodewyk scoring his third of the year to cut the lead but the Wheat Kings would continue to push with Rylen Roersma tipping a Quinn Mantei shot through Tikon Chaika and in to restore the 3 goal lead to make it 5-2.
The Raiders would push hard with a pair of goals in the third but it wouldn't be enough with the Wheat Kings escaping with a 5-4 win.
