Hyland & Ritchie Score a Pair; Win Second Straight at Home

BRANDON M.B. - The Brandon Wheat Kings get revenge Saturday night defeating the Swift Current Broncos 4-2.

The Broncos got off to a hot start with Brandon native Clarke Caswell scoring a powerplay goal to make it 1-0 Swift Current Broncos only 2:32 into the game. The Wheat Kings would tie it up at one with Brett Hyland tipping a Nate Danielson shot which would fool Broncos goaltender Gage Alexander.

With the game tied up at one, the Broncos would restore the lead with Matt Ward finding Brady Birnie who scored his 4th of the year to make it 2-1. The Wheat Kings would get a big opportunity to get back into the game going on a full two minute two man advantage. During the late stages of the two man advantage Nolan Ritchie would score his 10th of the year to tie the game up. Then only three minutes later Logen Hammett would feed Brett Hyland allowing Hyland to score his 2nd of the night to give the Wheat Kings a 3-2 lead and their first lead of the game. The Wheat Kings were also able to put up 21 shots on goal in the second frame which is a season high.

The Wheat Kings would get solid goaltending from Carson Bjarnason during the final 20 minutes. The Nolan Ritchie would score his 2nd of the night into the empty net giving the Wheat Kings a 4-2 win and their second straight win at home.
