Northwoods Duluth Huskies

Walks Continue to Haunt

June 11, 2021 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Duluth Huskies News Release

St Cloud, Minn. - Huskies drop the opener in a two game road series against St. Cloud. The Huskies could not overcome fourteen total walks from the pitching staff and five errors in the field as they fall 11-5 to the Rox. Tyler Meyer got his first start after a few good appearances out of the bullpen. However, the start did not go as planned as he walked five, gave up five and only lasted three and two third innings until the game turned over to the pen.

Sadly, for the Huskies, the bullpen could not keep the game in control for the Huskies. The bullpen arms ended up walking nine for a total of fourteen walks for the game.

Even though the pitchers walked fourteen the defense behind them did not fill them with confidence committing five errors in the game and costing the Huskies four total runs.

It was not all bad for the Huskies as they still showed promise offensively as Mike Boeve or as he is known as in Duluth "Barrel Mike" continues to swing a hot bat going 2 for 4 and driving in two runs for the Huskies.

Not to mention the Huskies newcomers continue to impress at the plate. Blayne Robinson went 1 for 4 with a scorching double in the right/center gap. Charlie Rhee smacked a double over the left fielders' head to add to his hot start and drive in a run.

The Huskies drop to 3-8 on the year as the St. Cloud Rox improve to 5-4 after the 11-5 win over Duluth. The Huskies will be back in action tomorrow June 11th, 2021 at 7:05pm, in St. Cloud, Minnesota as they look to split the series.
