Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque Isotopes broadcaster Robert Portnoy will serve as the play-by-play voice of the Triple-A Baseball National Championship Game, which will be broadcast live on VERSUS, part of the NBC Sports Group, from Isotopes Park on Tuesday, September 20 at 6:05 PM. Portnoy will be joined in the booth by former Major League and Triple-A player and manager Bucky Dent, while Pawtucket Red Sox broadcaster Steve Hyder will be the broadcast's field reporter.

Since 2006, Portnoy has been the broadcaster of the Isotopes, establishing himself as one the Pacific Coast League's best play-by-play voices. In 2008, Portnoy received an "Excellence In Broadcasting Award, Sports Play-By-Play" from the New Mexico Broadcasters Association and in 2007 served as the lead radio play-by-play voice of the Triple-A All-Star Game, which was broadcast nationally on the Westwood One Radio Network.

In addition to his work with the Isotopes, Portnoy has been the play-by-play voice of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds NBA Developmental League and an afternoon drive sports talk show host in Albuquerque. He also calls numerous high school football and basketball games throughout the area for ProView Networks.

No stranger to the International League, Portnoy worked one season with the Indianapolis Indians before joining the ‚¬ËœTopes. In 2003-04, he was the voice of the Double-A Huntsville Stars, where he was singled out as Southern League Radio Broadcaster of the Year in 2004.

Albuquerque wraps up its 2011 regular season home schedule with a mammoth "Fan Appreciation Weekend," which kicks off tonight with a golf towel giveaway courtesy of Coca-Cola. On Saturday and Sunday, the ‚¬ËœTopes will have back-to-back fireworks shows as well as special Isotopes Grab Bags to the first 3,000 fans each night. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
