Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Oklahoma City RedHawks (61-72) failed to hold a 6-1 lead after the seventh inning, but a tenth inning walk-off single from Oswaldo Navarro saved the RedHawks in a 7-6 win over the Iowa Cubs (62-71) before 4,242 Thursday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.

RedHawks reliever Jeff Fulchino (1-0) picked up the win, dealing two-thirds of an inning. Cubs reliever Blake Parker (2-3) allowed the game-winning run in the tenth inning for the loss.

A late rally by Iowa erased the chance at a winning decision for RedHawks starter Dallas Keuchel, who allowed a solo home run and three other hits in seven innings before leaving with a 6-1 lead.

Jordan Lyles returned to the mound for the RedHawks in relief, giving up four runs and five hits with a home run, one walk and one strikeout in one and one-thirds innings. Lyles dealt 38 pitches with 24 strikes.

Iowa opened the scoring in the first inning when Brad Snyder belted a solo home run to right field for a 1-0 lead. The RedHawks countered with a four-run bottom of the first against Cubs starter Nick Struck. Brett Wallace doubled in two runs, Jake Goebbert single in another before a Robinson Cancel RBI double plated a fourth run for a 4-1 score.

The RedHawks added two runs in the second inning on a second Brett Wallace RBI double and an RBI single from Drew Locke for a 6-1 lead.

The Cubs started a rally in the eighth inning against Lyles. A Scott Moore single, Robinson hit-by-pitch and Spencer single loaded the bases before a Brett Jackson walk brought in a run for a 6-2 game.

Lyles retuned to the mound in the ninth inning and gave up a one out, solo home run from D.J. LeMahieu, before a single and ground rule double ended his night. Ryan Flaherty next hit the first pitch from reliever Fernando Abad into right-centerfield for a two-run single and a 6-5 score. Later in the inning with two out, Jackson doubled inside of the third base bag to score Flaherty for a 6-6 deadlock.

The RedHawks rallied in the tenth inning against Parker, who had dealt a perfect ninth. Koby Clemens walked with one out but was caught stealing on the next pitch for the second out of the inning. Robinson Cancel then drew a two-out walk, moved to second on a Chris Johnson single and scored on an Oswaldo Navarro single for a 7-6 win.

RedHawks LH Xavier Cedeno will face Cubs RH Jay Jackson in game three of a five-game series Friday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available through the RedHawks ticket office at 405-218-1000 or by visiting okcredhawks.com.
