Verreault-Paul, Solar Bears Agree to Terms

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Francis Verreault-Paul. Orlando acquired the rights to Verreault-Paul in a trade with the Bakersfield Condors on October 25.

Verreault-Paul (5-10, 187 lbs.) completed his first professional season last year, splitting time between the Greenville Road Warriors and Bakersfield Condors. He was fourth in scoring on Greenville at the time he was traded to Bakersfield in late December and finished the season with 16 goals and 31 assists for 47 points and 152 PIM in 60 games and was selected to play in the ECHL All-Star Classic in Colorado. He made his professional debut at the end of the 2011-12 season picking up one assist and four PIM in six games with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

A native of Roberval, Quebec, Verreault-Paul played four seasons (2008-2012) at McGill University of the CIS (Canadian Intramural Sport) where he scored 87 goals and added 69 assists for 156 points to go along with 371 PIM in 93 games. In 2011-12, he helped McGill win the University Cup Championship while being named to the CIS All-Tournament Team and winning the CIS University Cup Most Valuable Player Award.

His amateur career also includes five seasons (2003-08) with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL where he served as an alternate captain for his final two seasons. Verreault-Paul skated in 301 games for Chicoutimi, registering 507 PIM and 189 points on 89 goals and 100 assists. He won a bronze medal in 2003-04 playing for the Canada-Quebec U17 Team at the U17 World Hockey Championships.
