November 5, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- With some help from the St. Louis Blues, the Kalamazoo Wings and the Chicago Wolves received some changes to their roster.

The K-Wings have been reassigned defenseman Brett Ponich and forward Yannick Veilleux (ah-VEY-you) from the Blues. At 6'7" and 220 pounds, Ponich adds size to the K-Wings blue line. A third-year pro, Ponich started the season in the AHL playing in four games with the Wolves.

Last season, the native of Beaumont, Alberta split time with the AHL's Peoria Rivermen and in the ECHL with both the Evansville IceMen and Alaska Aces.

A former 2nd round (48th overall) selection of St. Louis in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Ponich played five seasons of junior hockey in the Western Hockey League with the Portland Winter Hawks.

Veilleux, who is entering his first full season of professional hockey, played in two games to start the season with the Wolves.

After completing four seasons of junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Veilleux received a taste of pro hockey by seeing action in eight games and earning three points (2 goals, 1 assist) with the Rivermen.

In his junior hockey career, Veilleux recorded 188 points (83 goals, 105 assists) in 247 games and he helped his team earn a post season berth in each of his four seasons.

Defenseman Cade Fairchild was reassigned from the K-Wings to the Wolves. Fairchild earned no points and had a plus/minus of even in two games for the K-Wings.

By heading to Chicago, Fairchild becomes the second member of the K-Wings this season to be either reassigned or loaned to an AHL club.

Both Ponich and Veilleux are scheduled to make their K-Wings debut tomorrow, Wednesday, November 6th morning, as the K-Wings continue their five-game home stand with the second-leg of the stand with a special 10:30 a.m. face-off versus the Wheeling Nailers during the annual Education Day presented by PNC Bank, RxOptical, Walgreens, Consumers Credit Union, Airzoo and Bronson Orthopedic & Sports Medicine.

Looking for a great deal on tickets for tomorrow's game, the K-Wings are offering a special price. For November 6th, adult tickets will only be $10, while kids (ages 12 and under) tickets are $4.

Wednesday morning will be the first of three meetings between the K-Wings and the Nailers. This will be Wheeling's only visit to Wings Stadium.
