November 5, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the ECHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that rookie forward Wade Megan has been selected as the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Oct. 28-Nov. 3. It's the first time this season that a Cyclone has taken home the award.
Megan (MEE-gan) scored six goals, added three assists and was a +6 as the Cyclones won all three games last week, improving to 6-0-0 on the season. The 23-year old had two goals and an assist in each of Cincinnati's three road wins last week - 4-3 at Toledo on Wednesday, 7-0 at Evansville on Friday and a 5-4 shootout win at Kalamazoo on Sunday. He scored the game-winning goal in Friday's victory against the IceMen.
A fifth-round selection (138th overall) of the Florida Panthers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Megan leads ECHL rookies with six goals and 12 points, and is second among first-year players in plus-minus at +10. His six goals are tied for third overall in the league while his 12 points are tied for second. A native of Canton, N.Y., Megan made his pro debut last season, scoring one goal in 13 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.
Prior to turning pro, he played four years at Boston University where he scored 83 points (49g-34a) in 151 games. On behalf of Wade Megan, a case of pucks will be donated to a Cincinnati youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL.
After a week of practice, the Cyclones will close out their five-game road trip on Friday night as they once again meet the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30pm. Fans can hear all the action of the game on the Cyclones Radio Network (CyclonesHockey.com, America One, Cyclones Mobile App) beginning at 7:00pm and WATCH live at Game Time Sports Bar and Grill.
The Cyclones will return to the ice at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday, November 9 when they play host to the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30pm. The game will also be the first Kids Eat FREE night of the year, with fans ages 2-12 receiving a FREE meal courtesy of John Morrell. Tickets are on sale now!
