Elmira Jackals News Release
ESTERO, Fla. - November 5, 2013 - The Elmira Jackals announced today that rookie defenseman Maxim Lamarche has been reassigned to the club by the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers from Adirondack of the American Hockey League.
Lamarche, 21, began the season with the AHL Phantoms but has yet to make his professional debut. He is a 6-3, 215-pound defenseman out of Baie-Comeau of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In his final season last year Lamarche led the Drakkar with 43 points (9 goals, 34 assists) and was third on the team with a +31 rating. He then went on to notch 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) in the playoffs to lead Baie-Comeau all the way to the QMJHL President's Cup final before bowing out to eventual Memorial Cup champion Halifax.
Lamarche has joined the Jackals in Estero, Fla. and is available to play this week.
Additionally the Jackals announced a pair of transactions from their affiliations with the New Jersey Devils and Ottawa Senators. The Devils have reassigned goalie Maxime Clermont from the AHL's Albany Devils to Elmira, and also reassigned defenseman Raman Hrabarenka from Elmira to Albany. Ottawa has reassigned forward Jakub Culek and defenseman Troy Rutkowski from Elmira to AHL Binghamton.
Clermont made two appearances while with Albany and recorded a 2.00 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage. He has also joined the Jackals in Estero and will be available to play this week.
Hrabarenka has two assists in five games with Elmira, and is tied for the team lead with a +3 rating. The second year pro out of Mogilev, Belarus had five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in 34 AHL games as a rookie with Albany last year. This is his first stint with the Devils in 2013-14.
Culek, a rookie, has two assists and a +3 rating in three games with the Jackals while Rutkowski has a +2 rating in three games. Culek and Rutkowski were each reassigned to Binghamton following Elmira's game at Reading on November 2 and did not travel with the team to Florida.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return home on November 15, 2013 to take on the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05 p.m. The Jackals will be giving away free poster schedules to the fans in attendance.
