Worcester, MA (January 12, 2009)-----The UMass Memorial Medical Center Sports Medicine Center, a program of the Medical Center's Department of Orthopedics and Physical Rehabilitation, was recently named the official medical services sponsor of the American Hockey League's Lowell Devils.
Under the agreement, the Sports Medicine Center provides physician coverage for players' injuries for all of the team's games. The center will also provide follow-up medical care to team members at its facility on the UMass Memorial Hahnemann Campus in Worcester.
"We're extremely pleased to add the Lowell Devils to the roster of regional sports teams that have chosen the UMass Memorial Sports Medicine Center to take care of their athletes' injuries," said Brian Busconi, MD, chief, sports medicine and director, sports medicine center and arthroscopy at the Medical Center. "The Sports Medicine Center and its physicians and staff have a long history of caring for athletes of all ages and abilities, and we look forward to working closely with the team."
