Moose release three from PTO's and re-assign Derlago to Bakersfield

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have re-assigned forward Mark Derlago to the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL and have released a trio of players including defenseman Andrew Martens, forwards Dirk Southern, and Tim Spencer from their professional tryout contracts.

Derlago, 22, played in 21 games with Manitoba after being recalled on Nov. 26/08. In that time, the Brandon, MB native scored nine points (4-5-9), and six penalty minutes. He has now played in 25 games with the Moose in the past two seasons where he's scored 14 points (6-8-14) and eight penalty minutes. In 12 games so far this season with Bakersfield, he's scored 20 points (11-9-20) and six penalty minutes.

Martens, 27, appeared in 11 games with Manitoba since signing his PTO on Dec. 10/08. In that span, he scored five points (0-5-5) and six penalty minutes. In his very first game as a Moose, Martens collected three assists vs. Grand Rapids Griffins. The Calgary, AB native has appeared in 23 games so far this season with the ECHL's Ontario Reign where he has 13 points (2-11-13) and 24 penalty minutes.

Spencer, 22, appeared in four games with Manitoba after signing his PTO on Dec. 29/08. In that time, the Carnduff, SK native collected two penalty minutes. In 22 games this season with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL, Spencer has scored four points (1-3-4) and collected 72 penalty minutes

Southern, 25, has played in 17 games with Manitoba this season, including seven since being signed to a second PTO this year on Dec. 12/08. In total, the Winnipeg, MB native has scored four points (3-1-4). Southern has also appeared in 14 games with the Gladiators where he has nine points (1-8-9) and 21 penalty minutes.
