Drew Macintyre Lifts Admirals Over Moose

The Milwaukee Admirals defeated the Manitoba Moose 2-1 on Tuesday night, making them the sole owner of top spot in the Western Division with 56 points. Prior to last night's battle, the two clubs' were tied for first place in the conference with 54 points apiece. Michel Ouellet scored the lone goal for the Moose, while Cory Schneider blocked 20 of 22 shots. Former Moose tender, Drew MacIntyre, earned the win for the Admirals by allowing one goal on 28 attempts as well as first star honors.

The first clash between the Manitoba Moose and Milwaukee Admirals got underway at the MTS Centre with starting goaltender Cory Schneider manning the home mesh, opposite former Moose tender Drew MacIntrye.

Milwaukee benefited from an early man-advantage when Michael Grabner was penalized for hooking at 2:37. On their second shot of the night, Admirals defenseman Robert Dietrich snuck one through Schneider's five-hole to put the visitors in the first lead of the game.

At 10:43 Alexandre Bolduc was punished for slashing, putting the visiting Admirals on their second powerplay. One second after the penalty expired, Patric Hornqvist took a slap shot from the point and hit the back of the net to give the visitors a two-goal lead.

The Moose were handed their first powerplay of the night when Hugh Jessiman was sent to the sin bin for hooking a mere 3:47 into the second stanza. The home team was able to bring their shot count to eight with the extra attacker, but couldn't crack MacIntyre in the short two-minutes.

At 6:01 Pierre-Cedric Labrie and Ryan Maki exchanged punches behind the visiting net, and when Maki fell to the ice, both guilty parties were handed five-minute fighting majors.

With 1:46 left in the middle frame, the Moose finally found the combination to unlock MacIntyre's dead bolt. With help from Jason Krog and Shaun Heshka, Michel Ouellet carried the puck over the former Moose goaltender to inch closer, 2-1.

The Moose would end the second period and begin the third a man-up, thanks to Triston Grant's four-minute roughing call.

Milwaukee killed-off the four-minute penalty before the Moose could knot the game and play resumed to five-on-five.

Opting for the extra-attacker with one minute left, Manitoba pulled Schneider, hoping to tie the game in the final seconds. Unfortunately, the Moose couldn't notch a goal and the Admirals secured of a 2-1 victory over Manitoba on Tuesday night.
