Utah Grizzlies News Release
Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa Oilers (8-9-1-1) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (11-6-2-0) Thursday evening at BOK Center in downtown Tulsa by a final of 5-1.
The loss was just the Grizzlies second of the season on the road as they dropped to 7-2-1-0 away from Maverik Center. They hold a two-point lead on Rapid City for first place in the West Division.
Scoreless early in the first period, Utah had a goal waved off after Torin Snydeman, following a great scoring chance up ice, inadvertently knocked the puck in with his hand.
The Oilers jumped to a 4-0 lead as Taran Kozun relieved Chris Rawlings after the third Tulsa goal at 14:14 of the first period and stopped 16 of 17 shots to finish the game.
In the second, the Grizzlies were awarded two minutes of five-on-three power-play time after two consecutive minors by Tulsa, but the Oilers were able to score and made it 5-0.
Utah got on the board as Alex Krushelnyski buried his eight of the season from Jon Puskar and Snydeman with 4:58 left in the second period.
Utah drew four of the five power-plays in the game and shots were 28-26 Tulsa.
The Grizzlies next travel to Dallas to take on the Allen Americans Saturday at 6 p.m.
