Rochester Recalls Matt Garbowsky from Elmira

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that forward Matt Garbowsky has been recalled by Rochester from Elmira.

Garbowsky, 25, heads back to Rochester for his second stint with the Americans this season. He has appeared in eight games with Rochester, recording one assist, upon his first recall from Elmira on October 25th. He has also recorded three points (one goal, two assists) in five games with the Jackals this season. The St. George, Ontario native added one assist in eight games with the Americans at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season following the completion of his collegiate career at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Garbowsky finished his prolific NCAA career at R.I.T with 114 points (48 goals, 66 assists) in 128 games for the Tigers. He was named as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as a senior with 54 points (26 goals, 28 assists), setting a school record and finishing among the top five in the nation in goals, points and plus/minus. Garbowsky was also named as the 2015 Atlantic Hockey Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Forward of the Year in addition to being voted as an unanimous Atlantic Hockey First Team selection and a 2015 CCM Hockey Second Team All-American.
