Toledo Explodes Late to 4-2 Win in Indy

(Indianapolis, IN) Austin Wuthrich with a pair of goals to lead the Walleye to a 4-2 win Thursday night in Indy. Toledo is unbeaten in regulation over nine straight games (6-0-3) which ties a Toledo Walleye record. Toledo has an overall record of 10-5-1-3 while 8-4-1-2 on the road.

Toledo owned much of the first period but the Fuel picked up the lone goal when Garrett Bembridge slipped a rebound past Walleye goaltender Jake Paterson at 9:35. Toledo tied the game at 6:24 of the second period as forward Josh Shalla jumped on a rebound for his third goal of the year. Toledo held a 16-9 shot advantage through two periods.

In the third period, Austin Wuthrich (4th) went top shelf at 17:38 with a wrist shot that gave the Walleye a 2-1 lead. A pair of empty net goals from the Walleye including one from Wuthrich led to the win.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jake Paterson stopped 17 of 19 shots and has a record of 4-3-2. Toledo has a season record of 1-0-1 vs. Indy. The win tied the Toledo Walleye record of nine consecutive games unbeaten in regulation set from December 30, 2014 through January 24, 2015 (7-0-2).
