Carey Assigned to Mallards

MOLINE, Ill. - Forward Matt Carey has been assigned to the Mallards by the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild, the Mallards announced today.

Carey, 23, has scored two goals and picked up two assists in 21 games with Iowa this season.

Carey broke into the professional ranks by playing two National Hockey League games for the Chicago Blackhawks late in the 2013-14 season. The 6' 0", 195-pound Hamilton, Ontario, native scored ten goals and added 11 assists for 21 points in 67 games with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs last year.

Before turning pro, Carey enjoyed one standout season at St. Lawrence University. He finished tied for the team lead with 18 goals, notched 19 assists and totaled 37 points in 38 games for the Saints in 2013-14.

Carey arrived at St. Lawrence after three seasons in the Ontario Junior Hockey League, where he skated for the Burlington Cougars, Hamilton Red Wings and Toronto Jr. Canadians.

The Mallards return to action on the road Sunday evening against the Evansville IceMen. The Mallards next play at home Friday, December 18 at 7:05 p.m. against the Wheeling Nailers. The first 1,000 fans through the doors for that game will receive free Mallards winter caps courtesy of KWQC-TV6. December 18 also brings the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night.

Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season home games- including the December 18 game- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.
