
Trenton comes from behind for 7-4 win over NH

(Trenton, NJ)- Trenton rallied with four runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to defeat New Hampshire 7-4 in a come-from-behind victory at Waterfront Park on Thursday night.
Down 4-3 in the bottom of the 8th inning, the Thunder scored four runs, with all the runs charged against New Hampshire reliever Brandon Camardese (0-1). C P.J. Pilittere led off with a single and would score the tying run on an RBI triple by 3B Kevin Russo. Russo then scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single by 2B Reegie Corona past a drawn-in infield. 1B Cody Ehlers would provide insurance later in the inning with a two-out two-run double to make it 7-4. Ehler's double came off of New Hampshire reliever Daryl Harang. Trenton reliever Michael Gardner (3-3) earned the win by tossing 1.1 IP of relief. He got the final out of the 8th inning and then tossed a scoreless 9th.
New Hampshire (19-33) took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 8th inning off of Thunder reliever Zach Kroenke. With two outs in the frame, Kroenke gave up a two-run home run to New Hampshire CF Aaron Mathews. New Hampshire's lead came after falling behind 3-0. Trenton (34-19) had taken a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning with a fielder's choice RBI by DH Colin Curtis and sacrifice fly RBI by Ehlers. Curtis added a solo home run in the 3rd inning to increase the Thunder lead to 3-0. Trenton starting pitcher George Kontos went 7 IP and yielded only 4 H and 2 ER. He struck out 6 and walked 2. New Hampshire starting pitcher Brandon Magee tossed 7 IP and also received a no-decision as he allowed 10 H and 3 ER.
Trenton will will start a six-game road trip on Friday night with the first game of a three-game series against the New Britain Rock Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. RHP Alfredo Aceves (1-0, 0.00) will start for Trenton against New Britain RHP Jay Rainville (4-5, 6.61). Game time is set for 6:35 p.m.
