Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Rochester Red Wings rode a six-run fifth inning to a 7-3 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox on Monday afternoon at Frontier Field in front of a Memorial Day crowd of 12,369 fans.
Pawtucket (19-29), which swept Friday's doubleheader and split Sunday's twin bill, still took the five-game series with the Red Wings (18-29) and went 4-4 on the eight-game road trip, which concluded with the PawSox playing three games in less than 23 hours.
Sam Travis socked a 395-foot solo homer in the top of the fourth inning to give Pawtucket a 1-0 lead, and the PawSox built a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth on a Cole Sturgeon RBI single, but the Red Wings scored six of the game's next seven runs to win the series finale.
PawSox starter Matthew Kent (L, 0-3) ceded seven runs in 4.1 innings, while right-handers Erasmo RamÃrez (1.2 IP, 2 K) and Adam Lau (2 IP, 2 K) impressed in scoreless work down the stretch.
Rochester starter Kohl Stewart (W, 4-2) - the fourth overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft - allowed just one earned run in six innings.
Following their eight-game road trip, the PawSox now return home to McCoy Stadium and open up a four-game series with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies) - beginning with a doubleheader Tuesday that begins at 4:05 p.m. Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM and 104.7 FM) and throughout the PawSox Radio Network begins with the pre-game show at 4:00 p.m.
The nine-game homestand runs Tuesday-Tuesday (May 28-June 4) at McCoy Stadium. On Friday May 31, the first 5,000 fans coming to McCoy Stadium for the 6:05 p.m. game against the Tim Tebow-led Syracuse Mets will receive a collector's edition PawSox Baseball Card Set honoring the World Champion Red Sox. Patriots first-round pick N'Keal Harry will be in attendance as well, throwing out a ceremonial first pitch and posing for photos with fans. On Saturday June 1 following a 6:15 p.m. game against the Mets, fans will be treated to Hits of the 2000s Post-Game Fireworks. Sunday June 2 will mark the next Sunday Funday at McCoy Stadium, where fans can play catch in the outfield grass before the game and run the bases afterward.
Good tickets are available, and fans can visit the McCoy Stadium box office, which is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., and during all home games. Fans can also call (401) 724-7300 or log on to PawSox.com for tickets.
