Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Mets scored eight straight runs to overcome a four-run deficit en route to a 9-5 victory over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Memorial Day at NBT Bank Stadium in front of a crowd of 5,410. René Rivera led the Mets with three RBIs and three hits, including a home run.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (26-20) started the game by scoring in the top of the first inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Logan Morrison grounded out to first base, but Tyler Wade scored from third on the play for a 1-0 lead.

Syracuse (25-24) tied the game in the bottom of the first inning. With Rubén Tejada at second and Danny Espinosa at first, Rivera singled to right field, scoring Tejada to knot the game up, 1-1.

The RailRiders took their largest lead in the top of the third. Both Morrison and Brad Miller hit two-run home runs to push the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre advantage to four, 5-1.

The Mets came back to claim their first lead in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Espinosa and Rivera singled, putting runners at first and second. Travis Taijeron then doubled, scoring Espinosa to make it a 5-2 ballgame. Luis Guillorme followed with a single to center field, bringing home both Rivera and Taijeron to cut the RailRiders lead to one, 5-4. After Arismendy Alcantara singled and stole second base, David Thompson singled into right field, plating both Guillorme and Alcantara to give the Mets a 6-5 edge.

Syracuse extended its lead in the seventh. With one out, and Espinosa at first, Rivera crushed a ball over the right-field wall for a two-run home run that gave Syracuse an 8-5 cushion.

The Mets added one more run in the eighth on a Tejada single that scored Thompson from third base for a 9-5 lead.

Syracuse now hits the road for a six-day road trip that starts against the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. RHP Chris Flexen is scheduled to pitch for the Mets.
