Toronto Marlies News Release

Last Week

The Toronto Marlies rode a wave of strong play to close out 2014 earning points in their last 5 games of the season. The past week saw the Marlies in action four times, first of which was the annual Boxing Day Classic against Hamilton. Supported by a season high 7, 274 fans in attendance at Ricoh Coliseum, the Marlies would come away with a 4-0 win. Their efforts were bolster by a two assist performance from defenseman Petter Granberg and a 25 save shutout performance from Christopher Gibson. Toronto then headed to Rochester for a match-up with the Americans.

Playing in their fifth game of the season against one another it would be the Marlies who would emerge victorious. Matt Frattin would score the game winner for the Marlies, one night removed from recording the game winner against Hamilton. Toronto then returned home to complete their three game weekend against the Adirondack Flames.

One day after being recalled from Orlando Garret Sparks would backstop the Marlies to a 2-0 victory, making 23 saves in the winning effort. Toronto and Adirondack would renew acquaintances on New Year's Eve in Adirondack for their final games of 2014.

Adirondack would exact some revenge, capitalizing on a late penalty shot to force overtime and capture the extra point.
