Tordjman Backstops Rampage to Fourth Straight Victory

San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Rookie goaltender Josh Tordjman won his fourth straight game stopping 26 of 27 shots in San Antonio's 3-1 victory over the Peoria Rivermen Saturday night. A crowd of 5,327 witnessed the Rampage's fourth consecutive win snap Peoria's perfect 6-0 record at the AT&T Center.

The Rampage's special teams, who shut down all eight of Peoria's power-play opportunities, allowed Tordjman to tie the franchise record of longest winning-streak by a goaltender most recently set back during the 2003-04 season by Travis Scott. Peoria had several opportunities to at least tie the game in the final frame with four straight power-play chances but couldn't capitalize.

The Rampage recorded a goal in each period starting halfway through the first session, when Randall Gelech took a shot from the top of the right circle that deflected off a Peoria defenseman and into the net just over Marek Schwarz' left skate. Ryan Flinn, who duked it out with former Rampage forward Rocky Thompson seven minutes earlier, was credited with the assist on Gelech's eighth goal of the season.

The West Division's third-ranked Rivermen dropped their 100th goal of the season into the net past Tordjman with a top-shelf shot from Charles Linglet at the right wall 7:15 into the second stanza. The Rampage returned the favor 37-seconds later when Don MacLean found Chris Ferraro's centering pass that deflected off D.J. King's skate to put the Rampage back on top 2-1.

Tordjman's 12 saves in the final period included a scrum that credited two extra seconds on the clock when the officials were unable to locate the puck in the pile. With Peoria having pulled their goaltender, Gelech helped Jakub Koreis navigate the puck through six Rivermen attackers and walk it in for an empty-net goal to seal the Rampage victory.

The Rampage (14-20-1-1) face the Houston Aeros for their fourth time in 12 days Sunday in a 5:05 p.m. matinee at the Toyota Center.
