Norfolk Admirals News Release
CHICAGO, Illinois - Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that Chicago has recalled defenseman Dustin Byfuglien and center Colin Fraser from the Norfolk Admirals while returning right wing Carl Corazzini on loan to the Admirals.
Byfuglien (pronounced "BUFF-lihn"), 21, is a 6'3", 254-lb. defenseman from Roseau, Minnesota. In 28 games with Norfolk this season, Byfuglien has eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points and 42 penalty minutes. He leads all Admirals defensemen in goals, assists and points.
Byfuglien was drafted by the Blackhawks in the eighth round (245th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He made his pro debut with the Admirals last season, appearing in 53 games with Norfolk. He also made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks in March.
In 25 NHL games, Byfuglien has three goals and two assists for five points and 24 penalty minutes.
Fraser (pronounced "FRAY-zuhr"), 21, is a 6'1", 187-lb. center from Surrey, British Columbia. He was one of only two Admirals to have appeared in all 38 games this season, scoring 5 goals and 13 assists for 18 points and a team-leading 97 penalty minutes.
Fraser was acquired by Chicago in trade from the Philadelphia Flyers along with Jim Vandermeer and 2004 second round draft pick for Alex Zhamnov and 2004 fourth round draft pick on February 19, 2004. He was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the third round (69th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He has yet to appear in an NHL game.
Corazzini (pronounced "kor-uh-ZEE-nee"), 28, is a 5'9", 176 lb. right wing from Framingham, Massachusetts. He has appeared in 27 games for the Admirals this season, scoring 17 goals and adding 13 assists for 30 points and four penalty minutes.
Corazzini skated in three Chicago contests after his December 30 recall, going scoreless with no penalty minutes. In seven games with the Blackhawks this season, he has one assist and two penalty minutes.
Corazzini made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins during the 2003-04 season. In 19 career NHL games, he has two goals and one assist with two penalty minutes. He signed a one-year contract with Chicago on July 17, 2006.
With the Admirals, Corazzini is ranked third in goals, fifth in points and tied for first in game-winning goals (4). He also is tied for sixth in the AHL in game-winning goals. Corazzini ranked fourth on the Admirals' roster during the 2005-06 season with 55 points (26g, 29a).
