Peoria Rivermen News Release

San Antonio, TX - Prior to tonight's game, the Peoria Rivermen were 12-0-0-1 lifetime against the San Antonio Rampage and 6-0-0-0 at the AT&T Center before Saturday night's tilt in which Peoria lost 3-1 in front of 5,327.

The Rivermen (20-13-1-2, 43 pts) had several opportunities to at least tie the game in the final frame, as they had four straight power play chances, and out shot the Rampage 12-6, but failed to score. Overall, Peoria went 0-for-8 against San Antonio's 17th ranked penalty killing unit.

The Rampage (14-20-1-1, 30 pts) registered the first goal of the contest midway through the opening session at 10:09. Right wing Randall Gelech took the puck in the neutral zone and began a two-on-two opportunity with center Ryan Garlock. Gelech skated up to the right face-off circle, where he tried to flip a pass to Garlock just above the crease, but it hit the skate of a Rivermen defenseman and bounced over the stick of goaltender Marek Schwarz as he was moving to his left to cover the weak side. It was Gelech's eighth goal of the season.

Peoria evened the score on Charles Linglet's team-leading 19 th goal of the year at 7:15 of the second stanza. San Antonio goaltender Josh Tordjman played the puck behind the net and fired it around the right-wing corner on a clearing attempt. The puck was intercepted by left wing Michal Birner at the right point and tipped to center Ryan Ramsay, who quickly snapped a shot on net from the top of the right face-off circle that was redirected by Linglet above the glove of Tordjman.

San Antonio regained the lead just 37 seconds later on a beautiful give-and-go tally, which turned out to be the game-winning goal. From center point, center Donald MacLean fed the puck to center Chris Ferraro, who was at the bottom of the left face-off circle. MacLean skated freely into the slot and tipped Ferraro's pass over the right leg of Schwarz for his 11 th marker of the 2006-07 campaign.

The Rampage added an empty net goal at 19:59 of the third period to seal the deal, as Gelech swatted the puck away from a Rivermen player at his own blue line to allow Jakub Koreis to skate the length of the ice to deposit his third goal of the year.

Tonight's contest marked the first time in which the Rivermen were defeated in regulation after allowing two or fewer goals. In games where this is the case, Peoria is 15-1-1-0; they fell to 1-9-1-2 when scoring two or fewer times.

The Rivermen will continue their four-game road streak, as they travel to Chicago to skate against the Wolves, who are leading the West Division, on Tuesday, January 9 at 7:00 p.m.
